 2nd August 2011. GBRf class 66 diesel-electric locomotive 66731 heads through Clapham Junction station with train 5Y55 from Tonbridge West Yard to Wimbledon. This train later had EMU 455851 inserted between the barrier vehicles and then proceeded as train 5L55 to Ilford depot. This was the movement that was planned to take place the previous day, but which had been postponed. |

 1st August 2011. GBRf class 66 diesel-electric locomotive 66731 heads through Teddington station with train 5O55 from Peterborough to Wimbledon, comprising of barrier vehicles number 6376 and 6377 belonging to Porterbrook Leasing. The plan was that an EMU due for maintenance would be inserted between the two barrier vehicles and taken to Ilford depot as train 5L55. However, a last minute hitch prevented this move and the locomotive and barrier vehicles instead travelled on from Wimbledon to Tonbridge West Yard as train 5Z55. |

Ex-LNER A4 class steam locomotive 60019 "Bittern" was masquerading as LNER 4492 "Dominion of New Zealand" at the head of train 1Z94 the "Dorset Coast Express" from London Victoria to Weymouth. The location was Coxes Mill, near Addlestone Junction. Bringing up the rear of the train was class 37 diesel-electric locomotive 37516 in West Coast Railway Company maroon livery. |

 6th July 2011. Electro-diesel class 73 locomotive 73138 heads track test train 1Q85 on the Up Fast line at Esher. Sister locomotive 73107 in two-tone grey livery was at the rear. The carriages had departed from the Railway Technical Centre (RTC) at Derby two days before and had stayed overnight in Grove Park depot. The following morning the train worked to Reading and Waterloo before staying overnight in Woking Down Yard. On the day of the photograph the train worked from Woking Yard to Waterloo, then to Southampton, and then was photographed heading for Wimbledon. There were severe disruptions on this line at about the time of the photograph, so it is not known whether the train completed its planned diagram for the day. This would have involved running from Wimbledon to Effingham Junction and from there to an overnight stop at Grove Park depot. |

The footbridge from which the photograph was taken has cast a shadow on the front of the loco as it stands in the strong low evening sunshine. |

 4th June 2011. 4-4-0T steam locomotive "Isibutu" was on the traverser at the Statfold Barn Railway near Tamworth. This locomotive was built by W Bagnall of Stafford as their works number 2820 in 1945. She worked at the Tongaat Sugar Company in South Africa, and was originally named "Egolami", then "Robert Armstrong" and finally "Isibutu". |

The containers carried gypsum. Unusually some of the container flat wagons at the rear of the train were not loaded. |

 25th May 2011. Electro-diesel class 73 locomotive 73107 "Redhill 1844 -1994" brings up the rear of test train 1Q24 as it travels the Up Slow line at Esher. Sister locomotive 73138 in yellow livery headed the train. The train's complicated schedule took it from Portsmouth through Esher to Wimbledon, to Effingham Junction, to Wimbledon again, to Chessington, and finally to Hither Green Depot. |

 9th May 2011. Diesel-electric class 66 locomotive 66701 heads train 4E19 westwards through the Windsor Line platforms at Clapham Junction station. This was a train of flat wagons carrying gypsum containers from Mountfield to West Burton Power Station. The Rail Album Webmaster changed trains at Clapham Junction long after this train was due to have passed, so was surprised to then see it in front of him, running late. The photograph had to be taken there and then, as there was no time to even change any settings on the camera.. |

The wagons are 102 tonne bogie coal hoppers that previously operated between Avonmouth Docks and the East Midlands. They are lettered "Fastline", the name of a now defunct British freight train operator. |

The carriages forming the train were set SL90, which is mostly formed of genuine old Pullman cars. |
