Beyond the processing
mill area the wooden tramway rounded the "Horseshoe Curve" on
its way to the Deeside Slab Quarry.
Viewed from the ledge on the valley side the
"Horseshoe Curve" of the former wooden tramway can be clearly seen
as it snakes across the valley floor.
The processing mill is off the bottom of the image and the Deeside Slate
Quarry is off to the right. |

Another view of the "Horseshoe
Curve". The Deeside Slab Quarry is off the picture to the left, and
the processing mill is off the picture to the right. |
The "Horseshoe Curve" is hidden by the
tree on the left of this picture. The route of the wooden tramway can
clearly be seen leading from the left to the Deeside Slate Quarry, located
close to the centre of the picture.
An extension of the railway was built across the valley to the Moelfferna
Quarry, which can be seen above the Deeside Slab Quarry. |

Another view of the "Horseshoe

the photograph. |

Further along the wooden tramway, this is another
view of the "Horseshoe Curve" area. |
Looking back along the wooden railway from near to
the Deeside Slab Quarry. The "Horseshoe Curve" is out of sight
in the distance, round the bend. |
Close up view of part of the former trackbed on
the "Horseshoe Curve". The insignificant looking pieces of
wood along the route are the remains of the wooden rails. |
A close up of the cutting on the "Horseshoe
Curve". In the mide-1980s this cutting was somewhat waterlogged. |
Another view of the "Horseshoe Curve.
Taken from the side of the cutting, looking back towards the processing mill
and Glyndyfrdwy. |
