Wagon 11 was built by BR as wagon B726227 at Derby in 1962 as part of lot 3429. It was originally a shock open wagon, the chassis being slightly longer than the body and the two connected by a spring that absorbed shunting shocks. The spring is behind the protector strip in the centre below the body. Later it was used by the BR track engineers, who welded the body to the cassis and classified the wagon as type DACE.
