The sign beside Weybridge Town Lock says
this stretch of canal was opened in 1653. 22nd September 2009.
This is the start of the canal section of
the River Wey
Navigation. The water to the right of the picture is the River Wey, and
the photograph was taken from the bridge that gives the town of
Weybridge its name. Through the bridge on the left of the
photograph is the canal.. 24th January 2009.

Lock was probably put there in response to more than one dangerous

Beside the lock is a sluice that runs
constantly. The water originates at Coxes Mill, where springs feed into
the mill pond, which in turn feeds into the canal. 24th January 2009.
