Former BR 49395, an ex-LNWR steam locomotive,
at Blists Hill in Ironbridge on 13th November 1983. Like other LNWR
engines, these featured "H" section spokes. The third set of
driving wheels from the front were flangeless in order to help the
locomotive negotiate curves.

The
G2a class steam locomotives were designed by C J Bowen-Cooke of the London
& North Western Railway (LNWR) and were built at Crewe Works.
The type was known to enthusiasts as "Super-D". |

This locomotive was built at Crewe Works in 1921 as LNWR number
485. After 1923 it became LMS number 49395, and after 1948 it
became BR number 49395.

BR 48930 takes water at Sutton Coldfield
2nd June 1962 whilst on a Stephenson Locomotive Society special. The
tender is number 1450. This part of Sutton Coldfield goods yard
was the original terminus station, but was bypassed when the line to
