Black Five: BR 44667 at High Wycombe.  The shed plate reads 2F.
  
     
  The LMS "Black Five" 4-6-0s were designed under the direction of William Stanier.  They depart from previous LMS practice by having tapered boilers, a feature which William Stanier brought with him from his previous employment with the GWR.  The first example was introduced to traffic in 1934 or 1935.

  As standard the class was fitted with Walschearts valve gear.  However a few examples were fitted with either Caprotti or Stephenson valve gear.
