Another view of locomotive 66213 at Byfleet
& New Haw with
train 6N09 to Balham on 21st June 2009.
This locomotive was built at London, Ontario, in Canada by the Electro-Motive
Division of General Motors (GM-EMD).
The first wagon in train 6N09 was type
JNA private owner wagon NLU 29412, belonging to Network Rail's National
Logistics Unit. This was built at Arad in Romania by Astro Vagone.
The second vehicle in train 6N09 was type MLA wagon
503091, belonging to EWS. This was built by Greenbrier at the
Wagony Swidnica works in Poland.
The seventh vehicle in the train was type
MHA open wagon 507, belonging to DB (formerly EWS). The strengthening
plate in the centre of the solebar betrays that this wagon consists of a
replacement body on the chassis of a former "Merry Go Round"
coal hopper.
The 11th vehicle in train 6N09 was type MTA wagon
395259, belonging to DB (formerly EWS). This wagon was made by
constructing a new body on the chassis of a redundant former tank wagon.
The 13th vehicle in the train was type YLA
"Parr" wagon DC 967578.
The 14th wagon in train 6N09 was a former BR
OCA number 112033.
The 15th wagon in train 6N09 was a former BR
OBA number 110182.
A final view as 66213 begins to turn off the
main line at Byfleet Junction onto the line to Virginia Water.
From there it will pass through Staines, Willesden Junction and Clapham
Junction before arriving at Barnes. The point at the end of the
right-hand platform was originally the siding to the Brooklands motor
racing circuit. It was later re-used as part of the burrowing
junction from the Virginia Water line.
The people standing near the ends of the platforms are waiting to see
new steam locomotive 60163 "Tornado" hauling special train
1Z97 from London Waterloo to Botley.
