The Deeside Tramway from Glyndyfrdwy to Moelfferna

From the top of the incline above the Deeside Slab Quarry the line followed the contour of the hill through open country until it reached the base of the incline up into the Moelfferna Quarry.

On a sunny day this is a delightful place to be.

A twist in the track allowed the railway to follow the contour of the hill, so keeping the railway level.

The last part of the level section of railway track bed as it approaches the incline up into the Moelfferna Quarry.

Looking back along the valley from the base of the incline up into Moelfferna Quarry. In the distance the Deeside Slab Quarry can be seen at the top right of the photograph.

In the foreground is the pit into which the incline transporter ran. The transporter allowed the wagons to be kept level while they were being taken up and down the incline.

The remains of the transporter were near the top of the incline and are shown in a later page in this series.
