Wooden Railway near Llangollen

The Deeside Tramway from Glyndyfrdwy to Moelfferna

Beyond the "Horseshoe Curve" area the wooden tramway rounded the hill and found its way through open country to the Deeside Slate Quarry. This page illustrates the area as it was in the mid-1980s.

A number of sections of the former wooden rail remained in position when this photograph was taken.

In the distance is the Deeside Slab Quarry.

The Deeside Slab Quarry had been disused for many decades by the time this photograph was taken.

This rather flimsy bridge once carried a line over a route into the quarry. The line on the bridge took slate waste from the quarry to the waste tips.
