Arabic Country Loco Numbers

Arabic speaking countries tend to mostly use a numbering system which is somewhat foreign to western eyes, but is in reality simple and straightforward.  
 
The numbers read from left to right in both systems. Here is the conversion table: -

    Some examples
 
    Iraqi State Railway 4-6-2 streamlined locomotive marked ٥٠٢ was number 502.
 
    Jordan Railway 2-6-2T marked ٦٣ was number 63.

    Hedjaz Railway 2-8-0 marked
٤٨ was number 48  (this loco was later renumbered ٥٣ or 53).

 
 
  Egyptian State Railways 2-2-2-2 marked ٢٧٩ was number 279.
